The artwork arrives direct from the printers. It is removed from its tube, laid flat and measured to establish the correct size and work out where or if, the image will need cropping. It is closely examined for any unlikely blemishes or flaws. Once this is done, the other components can then start production...
Aluminium moulding is cut in line with the measurements taken from the artwork. The ends are all mitred, ready to join four lengths together. These will form the Sub-frame from which the entire finished article will hang, giving the distinct appearance of floating away from the wall with no visible means of support...
Clear Cast Acrylic is used in the Diasec treatment. It does not need to be a UV filtered Acrylic, as the liquid gel used for Diasec already contains an ultraviolet inhibitor...
Top grade Aluminium sheet is cut to size. This will provide the back plate for the finished image. We prefer to use Aluminium as this is much better suited to this kind of project rather than an alternative composite material. It is primed and cleaned, ready for attachment when the Diasec treatment has taken place...
The Diasec process is applied, attaching the artwork to the Acrylic sheet. This will significantly sharpen clarity of the image, enrich the colour and highlight texture featured within the photograph. Because it is a liquid rather than a sheet adhesive, the risk of air bubbles and creasing is eliminated. The liquid gel takes 24 hours to cure, during this time the work is left undisturbed...
Once the Diasec has cured the Aluminium backing can now be attached. A protective film is placed over the Acrylic for protection against scratches and scuffing. This remains in place until it is removed by the client prior to hanging...
It is essential that there is extra paper available around the desired image to ensure good adhesion during the Diasec process. A minimum of 25mm spare all around is recommended. Paper with a matt finish too is preferable to a gloss, and will produce a far better end result.
The Aluminium sub-frame is joined along with the others being used for this project. They are now ready to be placed onto the back of each image. Again, these are primed for maximum adhesion and the mitred corners smoothed...
An acrylic based adhesive is used for this part of the process. Acrylic adhesives give a good firm hold which will increase with time, therefore eliminate the worry over insecurity or detachment. The hanging rail which can be seen here, will be screwed to the wall and slips neatly in-line with the sub-frame...

However there are component variations available that can be used to enable Diasec artworks to be traditionally framed or illuminated within a light box, which can look incredibly effective...
Wrapping the finished piece is just as important as the care taken with the materials and artwork during the production process. 4mm Polyethylene provides suitable protection for works in transit, with extra thick corner plates fitted where the product could be most vulnerable to damage...
All completed. The only thing left to do is let the client know!
