London Art Fair 18 - 22 January 2012

We loved the finish...

of these two Chinese propaganda posters following Diasec treatment. Our client Jill Berman kindly supplied these images to us of the finished works hanging in position.

The actual posters cost very little to buy and were printed on very thin paper. It just goes to show, that inexpensive artwork will look spectacular when presented correctly.

These pieces certainly have to rank amongst our favourite projects.

The image to the left is bannered “Make great efforts to support agriculture” whilst the one above, states “We will with certainty liberate Taiwan”

Boyarde Messenger at Saatchi...

Dateline - Thursday 7th October. We were looking forward to the “Art of Giving” event very much and it did not disappoint, using live models was a masterstroke! In our minds “Boyarde’s Bums” eclipsed the whole show. There was certainly plenty of press and media attention, even Patrick was “Papped!” We are firm fans of Boyarde and her works and as you can see, Diasec enhanced them a treat. It’s a shame that we didn’t bring a better camera to capture the night though, but these shots and the others on our Facebook profile make nice souvenirs for us to look back on.

NY Bar & Grill Cobham...

Working with Globe Gallery and in conjunction with Villa Framing Co Ltd we’ve recently completed five Diasec and some Aluminium mounted artworks which were inserted into Acrylic display boxes. They’re installed at NY Bar & Grill. Cobham, Surrey. We think the mix of Diasec & Acrylic boxes compliment the artworks and venue perfectly! A dual purpose visit is due we think... View the finished works on location and sample the menu at the same time!

Many thanks to Joseph & Fiona at Globe Gallery for the photo’s, you can view more on our Facebook page.

Emily Allchurch | Tokyo Story

Emily’s show opened 19 January comprising eight images dry mounted onto Aluminium sheet then float framed. Four more were in effectively illuminated Light-boxes having gone through the Diasec process with Opal Acylic first. The show opening was a great success and the space at Daiwa Foundation, Japan House in London was the perfect venue to house the works.

The two methods of presentation are quite different giving two unique looks - a perfect representation of how one body of work can look great either under Diasec or Mounted onto Aluminium!

Gordon Trewinnard

Recently we made the acquaintance of Gordon Trewinnard who came to us for Diasec. He explained that he had a library containing thousands of infrared photographs that he had taken, dating back over fifty years! Looking at the five images that we were to work on, we were truly amazed by them. Enough for Keith and Dean to ask Gordon if they could see more of the collection!

Gordon explained that he’d been searching for the ideal way to display his works and having been disappointed with traditional framing presentations, felt that Diasec was the way to go.

This is Gordon’s first foray into actually selling his prints  - Infrared photography has always been a hobby, so marketing his work was never thought of until it was suggested to him recently. We have a feeling that this could well be a successful venture.

Gordon will be showing his work with Coombe Gallery who will have a stand at this years Affordable Art Fair, Battersea Park. 10th – 13th March.

We hope to attend ourselves, as quite a few of our Diasec and Aluminium panels should be on display.

Affordable Art Fair | Battersea 2011

Diasec invades Battersea Park!

Patrick popped along to the Fair yesterday (Sunday 13th March) to say hello to a few friends and to view what was showing in the park.

We’d been told that sales were strong and there were plenty examples of Diasec on show. So with many thanks to James Freeman for his complimentary ticket, Patrick hoofed it over there...

“The trip was well worth it and I enjoyed myself enormously. I thought the atmosphere was good ... busy and positive. It was lovely to bump into artists such as Barry Cawston, Soraya Schofield, Chuck Elliott & Tim Hall. Gallerists, Mark Jason & James Freeman too. Some of our regular clients Boyarde Messenger, Allan Forsyth & Vincent Poole were exhibiting alongside a couple of our new clients David Anthony Hall & Gordon Trewinnard although I was disappointed that we didn’t meet up.

I brought my trusty camera with me though and took lots of photo’s of the event to mark the day. I hope that I didn’t make a nuisance of myself! Press the photolink below to our Facebook page to see more shots.”

W London | Leicester Square

“Chic and cool comes to London.  At W London - Leicester Square Hotel the 192 guest rooms including 5 Fantastic Suites, 2 Marvellous Suites, 3 Spa Suites, 7 Studio Suites, 3 Wow Suites and the E-Wow Suite, all feature custom-made furnishings and stylish accents unique to London, as well as a signature spa, fitness facility, a world-class destination restaurant and the W Lounge where guests mix, mingle and relax.”

Then... add us! Working with McAleer & Rushe, the award winning, property development, investment and construction  company. We were asked to see if we would be able to produce Diasec panels for this prestigious new Hotel. Its fair to say that a lot of fore-thought and pre planning took place to make sure that we had every angle covered.

Size requirements were the first hurdle to overcome. The original design drawings to the right, show that the artworks were required to cover the entire wall-space, particularly in the E WOW suite at approximately 2.8 x 2.3 metres and the WOW suite’s at 4.1 x 2.1 metres.

The difficulty with these dimensions was getting the raw materials large enough to work with and in this case, it was not possible. Simply, because they are just not made! Therefore we had no other option but to break the sizes down & create three separate panels per image. METRO Imaging handled the printing and managed to print three separate portions per artwork for us. Their measuring was absolutely spot-on, so that when each individual piece was placed side by side, the continuation remained smooth with no parts missing or replicated on the adjacent panel, which would have been calamitous.

Before production took place. Patrick, along with Mark Kelly & Ross Cunningham from McAleer & Rushe went along to the Hotel on a site visit. Particularly for the E WOW suite, as you can see from the pictures, the final measurements were going to be crucial. The central column which separates the suite entrance, dining & living area’s incorporates an all round view, with two separating panels and a door concealing a storage cupboard. Adjustments were made to the final Diasec sizes so that they could  surround this pillar and believe it or not... the 2mm that was taken off each piece made all the difference!

The project as a whole so far, consists of 32 Diasec panels with high impact artworks that compliment each space magnificently and we love the results!

Hitomi Kai Yoda | RCA Show 2011

Some good news just in from Hitomi Kai Yoda who’s just had a Diasec panel made for this year’s Royal College of Art graduate show.

“Hope you are good. Here are some installation photos from the show. It is shown with a projection, so it was quite difficult to get a good shot. I am also in a show at Hooper's Gallery from 15th, July. I will send some installation shots from this show too… and also might be on Dazed online with a short interview, will let you know if anything else happens.”

We love getting feedback & installation shots from our clients!

Emily Allchurch | Tokyo Story

At The London Art Fair, there were lots of brilliant creations on show presented using Diasec.

Rob & Nick Carter used the show to launch their brand new “Paint Pigment” series with The Fine Art Society, proving very popular.

Chuck Elliott decided to show his newly created circular Diasec. We provided our usual straight edged panels, which Chuck reshaped himself - the result was certainly worth his experiments!

Long-standing client Veronica Bailey was also exhibiting, not only in the main show area but also in the Photo50 section. She had been specially selected alongside one of our other regular’s David Birkin.

Scott Alger, Marco Bettoni, Boyarde Messenger, Emily Allchurch. A wonderful event which we were proud to have been involved with once more.
